Teaching:

Upright & Electric Bass - Ukulele - Piano - Guitar

As a teacher, I draw on my practical gigging experience as well as some of my formal training (especially in the music theory department) in lessons. I enjoy taking on young beginners where I focus on ear training with games and popular songs and learning to read music. Equally, I take on more experienced players that want to get into the nitty gritty of a specific genre of music (syncopation, articulation, phrasing, harmony and performance techniques, ect.)

I teach privately at my home studio in North Seattle but am teaching over Zoom and JamKazam due to the pandemic. I have worked at Dusty Strings Music School as a private and class instructor since 2010, I taught private lessons and summer rock band classes at Westside Music Academy from 2011-2015 and taught an “Instrumental Music Class” at Billings Middle School (2015-2018), and my band Birch Pereira & the Gin Joints does outreach programs at schools. Watch the video below to see all the different instruments I teach and click here to see my official resume.
